This blog post is for all the beach lovers out there. Turning your interior into a coastal haven doesn’t mean complete renovation and spending all your hard earned savings. If you want to add some beach vibes to your home but have a limited budget, you can start by adding small décor items such as cushions, table lamps, coastal ornaments, wall art, etc…
Coastal interior design can be very easy and affordable to incorporate into your home. Adding a jute rug, a new throw blanket, blue navy cushions, sea grass baskets, or simply switching your wall art can already transform your space. Coastal interiors usually inspire relaxation, peace and calm. They are all about brightness and light, a simple colour palette, and natural materials such as jute, sea grass, wood, linen, or rattan.
To help you give your home some beach vibes and make you feel on holidays everyday, I have listed my favourite under $50 coastal home décor items.
1/ Transform your kitchen and dining space
You can easily give your kitchen a new look with these items. Add pops of navy blue or turquoise with your plates and bowls, or bring some wooden elements such as a cutting board, a tray or a serving bowl.
2/ A new living room
Your living room is also easy and affordable to transform. You can add a touch of blue by switching your cushion covers, buy a new jute rug or hand woven rug in a cream colour, invest in a new table lamp, or add storage space with some jute or sea grass baskets. Choose elements in the same colour palette for cohesion, and don’t hesitate to bring in different textures.
3/ A coastal bedroom
In your bedroom, you can invest in some new bed sheets in a shade of blue, new lamps for your bedside tables, add a jute rug or change your cushion covers. The key is to choose a simple colour palette and stick to it to create a cohesive and balanced interior.
4/ A brand new coastal bathroom
To give your bathroom a coastal look, you can change your towels for some in a shade of blue, add some bamboo items such as a towel rack, a shelf or a soap dispenser. You can also head over to the beach on a weekend, collect some seashells and use them as decorative elements.
